Working Together to Improve Our School

Kindergarten Meet & Greet Is a Huge Success!

Mother Nature was sure on our side this afternoon, providing ample sunshine and warmth to allow the Meet & Greet to happen as schedule and, most importantly, outside!

Over half of the incoming kindergarten students came and enjoyed some fun time with their new classmates!  Name tags indicating which classroom each student was in helped the kids connect directly with others who they will be sharing their classroom time with.  It is always such a nice event!

Thank you so much for Jodie Simeone for coordinating such a great afternoon to welcome all our new kindergarteners.  Also, thank you so much to Rhonda Burke, and Stephanie Ngom for all their much appreciated help handing out flyers and selling Spirit Wear!

We even had some surprise guests arrive when a few of the teachers stopped by a for a visit!  Thank you to all who were able to spend some time.

Have some pictures from the Meet & Greet you would like to share??  Email them to Stephanie Nugent at steph.nugent95@gmail.com!

Author Jon Goode to Take Part in our Summer Reading Olympics Closing Ceremony!

Jon Goode is a Vice President with the Lowell Spinners (Boston Red Sox) and the Nashua Silver Knights. He is also a children’s book author and currently has a book written with New England Patriots runningback Danny Woodhead. Mr. Goode will read his book to our students and will talk about  setting goals, believing in themselves and how teachers are the “coaches” in school.

Mr. Goode’s book is available for pre-order at a reduced rate of $12.00 per copy ($10.00 per copy for two or more).  He will personally autograph each book and deliver them to the school on the day he comes to speak.  The books raise money for charity benefiting kids and families affected by Cerebral Palsy and Cystic Fibrosis.

Mr. Goode will be speaking to the students on Thursday, September 27th.

Order forms for the book may be found under the Flyers/Forms page to the right.  A paper flyer will also be coming home in backpacks around September 17th.  Please return the order form with payment to the school addressed to the PTO, the deadline for ordering is September 24th.   There is also a link to the form below, feel free to print and send it in now if you like!

We are very excited to have this dynamic author coming to Dunning!

Ways to Get Involved!

As is typical at the beginning of each new school year, the PTO has several open board and committee chair and co-chair positions.

    Executive Board

Vice President – Primary responsibilities include standing in for the President when necessary, meeting with the Treasurer on a monthly basis to review the PTO Budget, attending the monthly Executive Board Meeting and monthly General PTO meeting.

Corresponding Secretary – Primary responsibilities include facilitating the coping and distribution of PTO flyers and handouts, sending out occasional e-blasts to our email group, attending the monthly Executive Board Meeting and monthly General PTO meeting.

    Chair/Co-Chair Positions

Book Fair
Spring Fair
Beautification
Hospitality
Pasta Dinner (Co-Chair with Andrea Dunn)
Creative Arts

Getting involved with the Dunning PTO, whether on the Executive Board or as an event Chair is astoundingly rewarding. You will become part of a dynamic group of parents all working towards the common goal of improving school life for our children. Without the generous volunteers who help us coordinate and run these great events our PTO couldn’t possibly be as amazing as it is!

Please consider volunteering your time, what better reason to get involved than for the sake of our kids!?!

New Mulch Has Arrived!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

You may have noticed that our play grounds have a brand new mulch floor! The PTO purchased new mulch for both play equipment areas over the summer and on Sunday, August 19th a small army of Dunning Parents came bearing their shovels, rakes and wheel barrels to spread the mulch out in time for the beginning of the school year.

A extra special Thank You is owed to all the parents who gave up a good part of their Saturday to come and help the PTO with this large project. Thanks to all their hard work, our children are much safer playing out there now that the mulch has been replaced.

The coordination of this project spanned many individuals. Thank you to Stephanie Ngom, the Coordinator, Mary Abramson, Mrs. Taylor, the Town of Framingham Buildings and Grounds department and all the great parent volunteers!
